Inspired by crazy ice cream flavours? Look no further than starting with a strong custard base using Steambowl. This old-fashioned vanilla custard recipe is incredibly creamy, perfectly smooth and ready in no time.


  • 4 Whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Pinch of Salt
  • 300 g Butter, Soft Creamed


  1. Steambowl helps your custard reach the right consistency. Follow the start instructions to prep your Steambowl. Begin mixing the eggs and sugar together on a low setting until the cream turns a pale yellow and thickens to the consistency of softly whipped cream. 
  2. Turn your Steambowl to off but continue mixing until the cream cools. Once cool, fold in the soft, creamy butter. 
Optional: Elevate your cream with these added flavors: cocoa, rum, lemon zest, lemon juice, cognac, Irish cream, almond liqueur (Amaretto), orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier), etc.
